rc 18t w/ mamba micro pro 8000 and 3s lipo

i was told that you dont have to upgrade the diff gears if you properly shim them. how is this done?

To shim the diff you need a set of these:

You put the shims between the diff bearing and the outdrive to push it closer to the input gear. Generally it will take two shims on each diff. For years now they have been shimming it from the factory so you may not need to put any in.

If you are running a 3s lipo and a 8000kv motor it is going to put a lot of strain on the gears no matter what you do. If the diffs are shimmed properly and the pinion to spur mesh is good you should be OK as long you go somewhat easy with the throttle. You should definitely add some punch control on the Mamba speedo, I would start around 50 percent (or more if you have high traction). If jumping you want to land with your finger off the throttle. A slipper clutch would also help:

X2 on the slipper clutch. Should have come with one from the factory. Exotek's slipper makes sure you will save some wear and tear on your diffs.

yea i was thinking about the slipper clutch. im gunna order some alloy gears but i just shimmed the gears till i get the alloy ones. to add the punch control do you do that with the castle link?
